The Cutest Little Chicken. Ever.

This year we went to a local church's FestiFall. They so many games and activities for the kids. It was a great set up but was a little too much for JJ. He either wanted to be held or wanted run around like a crazy man! ha! There were so many people there so we really had to keep an eye on him. We saw some friends from church which was fun. I like seeing all of the other kids' costumes. JJ was dressed as a chicken! He was so cute! It was funny watching him waddle around.

The activity was to dig through the corn and find matching toys to win a prize. Instead of digging, JJ was throwing the corn. We didn't stay at that activity very long. ha!

Food

I love food, as you well know, and I love to make it and eat it! I haven't blogged on any goodies lately so I thought I'd take some time to do so. Recently, I've done a lot of cooking and baking and I've used pumpkin in a lot of my recipes. I love this time of year because I love pumpkin! Here are some things I've made recently, with and without pumpkin. Enjoy!

Let's start with the sweets...

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cookies - soft chocolate chip cookies with a hint of pumpkin.

Rice Krispie Log - a mixture of rice krispie cereal, marshmallows, peanut butter, and chocolate. Doesn't get much better than that!

Great Pumpkin Dessert - a fun twist on pumpkin pie! A pumpkin pie base with a crumbly, nutty topping.

Funky Monkey Banana Bread - a basic banana bread with chocolate chips thrown in!

Great Pumpkin Cake - a spice bundt cake decorated as a pumpkin using cream cheese frosting. What a fun dessert for the holidays!

Pumpkin Apple Streusel Muffins - a moist, spice-filled muffin with a hint of apple and a streusel topping. Perfect with morning coffee!

German Chocolate Cookies - just like the cake. A chocolate cookie with nuts topped with lightly crisp coconut. Even if you don't like coconut you'll like this cookie!

Now, for the not-so-sweet side of things...

Taco Salad - dinner doesn't get much easier than this!

Beef Stuffed Zucchini - tender zucchini filled with seasoned ground beef.

Chili - perfect for a cool, fall day. Nothing says "fall" better than cornbread and a bowl of chili!

Chicken Taco Soup - a blend of taco seasonings with tender shredded chicken topped with cheese, sour cream, and tortilla chips.

Another new favorite is Pumpkin Chili. I don't have a picture of it (silly me) but it's a creamier version of chili. You can't taste the pumpkin but it really changes the texture. Another will-make-again recipe!

I hope you've enjoyed the small tour of my recent makings!

Happy Eating!

The Pumpkin Patch

This is the 2nd year that we've been to the Pumpkin Patch. This year was much different than last year though. JJ was only 6 months old last year and it was also the day that he started cutting his first tooth. He rode in the stroller the entire time (except for when I carried him while we rode the hay ride).

Not this year! This year JJ rode a pony, petted goats, ran around, slid down a slide, played in the sand, and picked out a pumpkin. He was loving it! I can't wait to go again next year when he is 2 1/2 (oh my goodness, that doesn't seem possible...) and he'll be able to do even more!

Waiting in line to ride the pony.

You can see how happy he was!

You'll have to excuse the hair. It was a very windy day!

My baby boy is getting so big!

After riding the pony we went to the petting area and JJ got to feed and pet the goats.

I think he was looking at one of the Llamas.

There were pumpkins everywhere so JJ had to make several stops to check them out!

On the hayride heading toward the maze and slide.

Walking through the maze. I didn't realize until later that Chan was taking pictures. I'm glad she did! I think they turned out great!

I wasn't about to send JJ down the slide by himself so I had to go with him!

This is almost everyone that went.

Searching through all the pumpkins to find just the right one.

Looks like he found the perfect one!

Happy Pumpkin Picking!

Show Us Your Life Friday: Fall Decorations

Yes, I know it's quite late but as mentioned in the previous post, I haven't been able to blog for a few days. I figured I could at least post for those that read and also for my own memories!
Kelly's Korner is featuring Fall Decorations this week. I adore fall and all that it brings. Unfortunately, I have very few fall decorations. And the ones that I do have I mostly got from someone else! Anywho, I'd like to add to my collection eventually but this is all I've got for now...

These are the 2 pumpkins that we brought home from the Pumpkin Patch this weekend (which I will blog about next). Hopefully I will get to make pie or something from them!

This is my birthday gift from my Mother-in-Law. It had a beautiful scented candle inside. We lit it so much that it didn't last very long. It is now filled with pumpkin potpourri.

This was given to me by my Secret Sister this year. I love how quaint it is!

So there ya have it. My sad collection of fall decorations. Now, you should see my Mom's house. It's gorgeous and cozy...all that fall decorations should be. Or, as my brother would say, it's festive! Since I didn't have much to show I decided to show my Mom's house as well. Enjoy!

This is hanging on the door outside. They have more outdoor fall decorations but this is the only one she took a picture of.

This is what you first see when you walk into the house.

Aren't they cute?

These two are on the dining room table. I love the plate!

I love this plate, too! And the stacked pumpkins. So cute!

Now we have the fireplace. I love how "full" it is with decorations.

This is on the top left side of the fireplace. I made this candle years ago in high school. Well, I didn't make the candle itself I just put the decoration on it.

This is the top right side. You can see the bookshelves better here. My Dad custom built these and surprised my Mom with them a few years ago. I think they're beautiful!

I love how things are spilling out from the pot.

Another cute little couple!

A close up of the colors. Oh, how I love the colors of fall!

The centerpiece on the coffee table in the living room.

As you can see, my parent's house is a little more decorated than mine but one day I hope to have a house full of fall decorations!

Happy Fall, Ya'll!
