Two Thanksgivings!

We are the lucky recipients of 2 Thanksgivings this year! We had Thanksgiving at my parents' house this past Saturday and we're having Thanksgiving with Jorge's extended family in San Antonio. We're starting the 7 hour drive to San Antonio this afternoon. I am well-stocked on diapers, baby food, toys, clothes, bibs, and anything else imaginable for a baby. I like to be prepared! I would love to chat more but I need to continue packing. I will give an update when we return. Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

PS
Don't forget to count your blessings this Holiday season!

"Not Me!" Monday

This is my first time to participate in MckMama's "Not Me!" Monday and I'm excited to do so! Let's see what all I did "not" do this past week...

I absolutely, positively did NOT lay awake one night last week thinking of what I can write for this week's "Not Me!" Monday. I would never do such a thing. I'm way too tired to be laying awake at night wasting precious sleep time!

I most certainly did NOT eat brownies for breakfast one morning. I know the importance of healthy eating and would never be so irresponsible. My Mother taught me better than that!

I did NOT stay up too late one (or two) evenings blogging when I should have been sleeping. I'm a responsible adult and would never do such a juvenile thing!

I have definitely NOT become a picture-crazy mother. Sure, I take pictures of my precious son but I would never over-do it! I would never take 20 or more pictures of the same thing. Not me!

Car Shopping

My husband and I have the unfortunate task of finding a car. Last week, on his lunch break, Jorge was hit by a guy running a red light. Thankfully, he wasn't hurt at all but the car wasn't so lucky - it was totaled. We're counting our blessings because the accident was bad enough that he should have been hurt but came out of it unscathed. Also, we got more for the car than we were expecting. So we do realize that things could have/should have been a lot worse than they were and we thank God for that. Now, we have to find another vehicle for him to drive. We started our search tonight and found one that he may be interested in. Pray that we'll find a good and reliable car soon!

Homemade Bread

Well, today I decided to try something new. I made homemade bread for the first time. It is such a long process but, I believe, worth it in the end. I grew up eating my Mom's and Grandma's homemade bread (which, by the way, is the best homemade bread EVER) so that is kind of what I was expecting when I made mine. To say the least, mine didn't turn out quite like theirs. I guess I shouldn't have expected it since it's my first time and they've made bread for years but that's what I had in mind when I tasted my first warm, buttery slice of bread. Good, but not great. Looks like I have some practicing to do!

JJ sat on the kitchen counter in his Bumbo during the bread-making process happily playing with whatever was in reach. I talk to him while I bake, telling him of the coming days that I'll get to make and bake things for him! I remember coming home from school and the house smelling deliciously of bread or cookies and now, I look forward to the day that I can do that for my sweet boy! Until then, I'll keep practicing and Hubby will get to enjoy the results of my practice!

Cursed With A Sweet Tooth

I have a confession...it is 11:00 pm and I just made chocolate fudge brownies about an hour ago! I know I should be more health-conscious but they're so yummy! I must admit that I don't have the greatest self-control in this area of my life. I had a Dr. appointment last week and, hallelujah, I'm back to my pre-baby weight! Unfortunately, I've been using that as an excuse to continue eating the way that I do. I basically eat what I want, when I want. It's a bad habit that started when I was pregnant and has continued through the 7 1/2 months since JJ was born. Oh, well. I guess I'd better just enjoy it while I can because I know that one day this will all have to change.

Another bad habit I've accquired is baking when I'm bored. Since I'm home with JJ most of the day, I find myself getting cabin fever so I have to find something to do. I love to bake and I love sweets so it works out well for me - sort of. And my husband loves all the homemade goodies but doesn't like the consequences that come with it! I need to find healthy, yummy goodies to bake. That way, we'll all be happier and healthier! I could certainly use suggestions. Cooking and baking are 2 things that I really enjoy and I love trying new things. All ideas are welcome!

About Me...

I'm a 30 year old stay-at-home wife and mother. My husband and I were married July 6, 2007 and we welcomed our son into the world on April 8, 2008. JJ, our son, is the light of our lives and the joy of our hearts.
I previously worked at an onhold message company as a Client Service Representative for over 850 clients. I loved my job and I miss the people I worked with but nothing compares to staying at home with my precious son. Not every minute of every day is wonderful and awe-inspiring but I wouldn't trade one minute of it for anything else in this world. I believe that if at all possible, a mommy should be home with her children - nurturing them, caring for them, and training them (Prov. 22: 6 - Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it). I hope to raise my son to love God and to be a trustworthy, respectful, and honorable man. I hope to reveal more about my family and me as time goes on. Thanks for reading!
