Show Us Your Life Friday :Wedding Party/Flowers/Ceremony

Today we're showing Wedding Party, Flowers, and Ceremony on Kelly's Korner. So, here are some pics from my special day!

This me me with my Matron of Honor (my Mom) and my Bridesmaid (Sharon, a friend from my former work place). Basically, I told them the colors I wanted and they found their dresses. I love how it turned out! They match but are not matching. You can also see our flowers pretty well in this picture. My florist was amazing and did a beautiful job!

This is Jorge and his co-Best Men. They are his brothers, Joey and Nilo. What handsome men I have in my family! :)

This is the view of the ceremony area. The butterfly garden is where the ceremony took place. My parents put so many hours into making this beautiful and perfect for us!

A close up of the flowers we had at the end of the outside chairs. I loved the pop of color it brought to the chairs.

My beautiful cake. It was so simple but it was elegant and perfect for our intimate outdoor wedding!

Here's a picture of what the garden looked like at night. This picture doesn't show it but we had lights, candles, and tiki torches throughout the yard. It was beautiful!

Lucky Winner!

I've been entering to win something, anything on the Fabulous Fun Finds website for a while. Well, back in May I won a fabulous pair of Mohop Shoes. I just got them last week (they had gotten so many orders that it took several weeks to get them shipped). Anywho, they're pretty cool! Check 'em out!

First, I chose which base I would like. There were several different options but I chose the High Walnut Maryam (pointy). Next, you select the set of ribbons you would like. Once again, there were so many to choose from. I went with Neutrals. They also sent a few extra ribbons since I had to wait so long to get the shoes. Lastly, you have many different things you can do with your shoes. So now all I need to do is figure out these ribbons and start wearing them!

Show Us Your Life Friday: Wedding Dresses

It's been a while since I've participated but I decided today would be a good one to join in on. Kelly's Korner is showing Wedding Dresses this week. I posted an Anniversary blog not too long ago which shows more pics. from the wedding. Here are a couple of my dress...

I loved the simplicity of my dress. We had an outdoor wedding and I thought it was perfect for the occassion!

Here's the back. I am really not a fan of lace but I loved it on this dress! It wasn't too frilly or fussy. It was just right for me!

Here are my shoes. It took me forever to find them but they were worth the wait! I loved them!

"Me" Day

Today was an unplanned "Me" day thanks to hubby. When JJ woke up at 7:00 this morning, Jorge fed him breakfast and took him and the dogs to the dog park for a while. I didn't get out of bed until 10:00. And when I did, I had coffee waiting! Then, hubby told me to schedule a hair appointment since I've been wanting to for a while now. Thankfully, a great salon had an opening and I booked it. I believe I have found the place I will go to from now on. They had complimentary arm and hand massages and ring cleaning while getting your hair washed! That, right there, is reason enough for me to go back. It was so relaxing. Not to mention, my hair stylist did a great job on my hair. She listened to my needs and wants and came up with the perfect hair style. After today, I'm starting to feel human again. I was in the "mommy" rut. Here are the befores and afters...

Here is the front of my hair before. Boring, right?

Here is the front of my hair after. Much, much better!

Back of my hair before. Blah.

Back of my hair after. Looks like it actually has some life to it!

Next on my list of things to do...pedicure and eyebrow wax!

VBS 2009

This was my first year to be able to participate in VBS. I was so excited because the last time I was involved in VBS was many years ago as a kid (no, I'm not telling how many years ago...). Anyway, I was a helper with the 1st and 2nd grade class. They were the smallest and quietest bunch but they were so good. We never had one problem and they eventually opened up a little. Here are some pics. from our "Ticket to Adventure".

This is Rachel, our class teacher. As you can see, our classroom is covered from ceiling to floor. Our goal was for it to look like we were sitting inside of a boat.

This is our class. They came faithfully every day.

These guys were our music leaders. They did a great job keeping the kids interested in singing!

The kids singing in music class.

Our fearless music leaders singing the silly song of the week - Make A Melody In Your Heart.

During music time I saw Paul sitting in the back doing the motions with the kids. He caught me trying to take a pic. so I didn't get him doing the motions but it's still a funny pic!

This is our photographer for the week and my beautiful pregnant friend, Kelly.

Our lessons this week were of the journeys of Paul. This day we learned about Paul and Silas singing in jail so we "locked" up the kids with paper chains. She doesn't look so thrilled about being locked up! haha!

A fun picture of our class.

One of the crafts they did this week. She's coloring the paper that will go in her plastic mug.

This is one of the games the kids played this week - Big Ball! Boy, does this bring back memories.

Who won the pennies contest this week??? The GIRLS won!

The kids had fun, the adults had fun. It was just a great week! I can't wait to do it again next year!

Almost Candy Bars

It's been a while since I've posted a blog about food or sweets. Not that I haven't done any cooking or baking...I guess I just haven't thought about posting. Well, yesterday I made Almost Candy Bars and decided they were blog-worthy.

I've had this recipe for years but have never made it (not that I remember anyway). They looked and sounded good so I thought I'd give 'em a try. I mean, what's not to like about devil's food cake, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, coconut, and nuts??? I know, right? Sounds fabulous!

Layer devil's food cake, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, coconut, and nuts in a jelly roll pan or 9x13 pan...

Next, pour a can of sweetened condensed milk all over the top...

Bake at 375 for 20-30 mins. or until top is golden brown...

The finished product...

A closer look...

Tempted yet???

It's Just The Beginning

Two years ago, Jorge and I said "I do" to cherish, love, and support one another. It seems like just yesterday we said our vows in my parent's backyard garden and committed ourselves to each other. It was a beautiful and perfect day and was everything I hoped it would be. It is just the beginning of the rest of our lives. Here are some pictures from that day...

This is us with my family. My mother's 89 year old parents made the trip from Indiana to see us get married. I'm so glad they were able to make it!

This is us with Jorge's family. His Grandma came from San Antonio and his Uncle and family came from Las Vegas. We're thankful they came to our special day!

Jorge's dad married us and his brothers were his best men. My Mom was my Matron of Honor. I love that family was involved in everything!

The kiss.

The rings.

Signing our lives away...haha!

My simple but beautiful cake. I loved it!

The happy couple.

A picture with almost everyone who came to the wedding. As you can see, we had a small and intimate ceremony.

We had a beautiful sunset that night. I'm so glad our photographer was able to capture it!

Sent off with sparklers!

The end of a perfect day...

Happy 2 Year Anniversary, baby! I am so thankful for you and how hard you work to support us. You are a great husband and father! I love you very much and look forward to many, many more years together!
